Robert E. Lee Elementary School
This 15,936 SF project includes a 12-classroom addition and renovation to an existing elementary school, built in 1929. The original cast-in-place concrete structure presented an interesting design challenge. The Owner was very interested in maintaining the beauty and intent of the original structure, while employing modern means and methods to remain within a restrictive budget. The result was a brick veneer building with cast stone medallions, copings and pilaster accents. The renovation work includes substantial mechanical redesign and upgrades; extensive roof renovation, including some tear-off and replacement, and some flood coating of the existing roof(s).
