Southwestern Bell Operations Center
Plano, TX

Driven by functional needs as well as aesthetics, the service operations center houses a pair of user groups for SWB.  The Lower Level is occupied by the service operations crews and dispatch while the Upper Level is occupied by a team of engineers.  The strong but classical use of color on the very utilitarian tilt-up concrete wall panels serves as an icon conveying the corporate identity as well as providing an aesthetically interesting counterpoint on the suburban area where the project is located.

Built with durability in mind the design team took the available design opportunities in order to express the nature of the construction as well as creating an iconic circulation element that houses vertical circulation elements within the facility.  The bold use of color along the vertical circulation element serves as a beacon signaling the location of the entry element as well as providing a colorful “pop” to the remainder of the façade.
